When was the last time you started talking to a stranger?

November 14, 2018 by Mariella Kliman

I asked myself this question when I was sitting in the metro of Vienna and observed this scenario: 2 girls who didn’t know each other were sitting face to face. The one girl always looked at the other girl and finished by apologizing to her: "I am so sorry that I was staring at you. It’s just that…. I love your hair!". The other girl was obviously flattered and so they started talking and laughing.

There are no strangers here; only friends you haven't met yet.

William Butler Yeats

I was just an observer in this beautiful scenario, that happens – in my opinion - way too little. And actually, according to Psychology Today, talking to strangers could even make our journey way more interesting. I couldn’t help but wonder: when was the last time I just started talking to a stranger?
