How to Write a Love Letter to Yourself?

Writing a love letter to yourself might sound weird to some. It is mostly because we have grown to treat ourselves as expendable. But one needs to appreciate and love themselves to have healthier well-being and live a happier life. One way to practice self-love is by writing yourself a love letter. If you have never done this before, here are some tips for you to start.

Get Comfortable

Dedicate some time and set up a comfortable space to write. It can be a corner of your favorite café, out in a lush green forest, or on your sofa with your favorite tea. Think of it as a date with yourself; where would you take yourself to?

Pen and Paper

Choose the old-fashioned way to write with pen and paper, no typing or digital devices. Handwriting your love letter will allow you to slow down and be more intentional.

Channel The Inner Admirer in You

Remember that this is a love letter, so think about the things you admire about yourself and express your love to yourself. You can start with a nice salutation, call yourself in a way that you like the most.
Then continue by recalling the good memories in your life, praising yourself for the moments you're most proud of and the best choices you have made.
Acknowledge the things about yourself you're not so happy about, but write it with encouragement. Compliment yourself for doing your best and give yourself the motivation to overcome. And remember to celebrate all the traits that make you, you. Don't hold back because you deserve it all!
Finally, close your love letter with a love declaration and encouragement that you need to hear. Plus, include a sweet salutation that will make you smile.

When you are done writing, it is time to "receive" the letter. Keep the letter somewhere special; treat it with tenderness as it is a love letter from someone special. Read it whenever you want as a gift to yourself.
