You are a great coach already and now you have the opportunity to show your skills online. If you are not used to online coaching, have no fear, we share with you some tips on how to be the best online coach you can be.

1. Be prepared

Let’s start with the obvious. Set an account on the video platform you use and join your meeting on time. 5 – 10 minutes before it starts is good practice to check if everything works well.

2. Avoid distractions

No mobiles, no notifications on your computer, and don’t let the kids and pets in! Have your own home-office prepared to get you in the “coaching-mood” Get your glass of water, tea or coffee, so you don’t have to get up to get it later. You can also put some motivational quotes on your walls or wherever you often see them to keep in the mood. For some motivational stickers, check out our Uloo store.

3. Be actively engaged

Online coaching is very similar to a face-to-face session. Be sure to know what you are doing as if you didn’t have a computer in front of you, but a person. Even if you don’t think so, many people notice when one is not engaged or is spacing out. Be engaged with your audience, show them that you care about their opinions and make every session personal and custom tailored specially for them.

4. Use online features; be creative!

To make your coaching sessions more fun, seize the opportunity that being online offers you: choose a nice background from the ones that many video platforms offer, or send funny or motivational images and videos to your participants. Yo can create some memorable charts, pictures or graphics to your presentations by using an online board like Miro.

5. Start up fresh

Being in front of a screen for a period of time can be tiresome. Start up your session with some stretching and movement to let motivation and creativity in and bad vibes out! And don’t forget your glass of water to stay hydrated.

6. Share your thoughts and experiences

Some people prefer you to start sharing before they do. Don’t be afraid to share with your audience any relevant personal experience that you have. Let them know you trust them. Use analogies or real-life examples to get people’s attention and engagement.

7. Stay curious

This is not only Uloo’s motto, but also a way of living. Work on yourself every day to bring out the best in you. Don’t ever stop being curious about what interests you, you may also discover more activities and things that you didn’t know about yourself!
